What SEO strategies to apply on your blog?

Find keyword opportunities

The first step in an SEO strategy is to analyze the type of research your target is doing and what are the best keywords to position your site.

To find your keywords, you can help yourself with several free and paid tools. Here are some that I use and recommend:

  • Google Keyword Planner
  • UberSuggest
  • SEMRush

Also, one of the most effective ways to find out which keywords get the most traffic is to analyze your competitors. You’ll be able to get new ideas and keywords you never thought of.

Analyze the first page of the keywords you are targeting

After establishing a first list of keywords, you now need to understand how to position yourself on them. Unfortunately, this step is missed all too often, but it’s essential to avoid working for nothing.

Establish an action plan

You can’t expect great results if you don’t plan your strategy and aren’t willing to invest the necessary time. Therefore, it is essential that you get organized by developing a plan with all the keywords to target with your site and how they will be treated.

For this, the ideal is to start using a spreadsheet in which you choose your main keywords. A good rule of thumb to make your job easier is to organize your keywords by category and in order of importance.

Optimize content

Content is the raw material of SEO. It should be helpful and respond as relevant to the user’s request as possible, and it should be well-optimized for Google to understand.

Think about how you can help your target by writing well-crafted content with tips and examples. Again, look at what works on Google’s front page to help you make the ideal plan, even if you delegate your writing.

The game’s objective is to do better than existing competitors, inspiring you with good ideas to produce even more relevant content and, above all, bringing its added value.

Several studies show that the best-crafted articles tend to have better SEO results. Don’t hesitate to create long and exhaustive content.

Also, all pages on your site must be correctly tagged to be understood by Google. Here are the main optimizations to be done:

  • Indicate unique title tags based on your keywords
  • Fill in the meta description to attract users
  • Structuring the H1, H2, H3 … tags…
  • Add alt tags to images
  • Have fresh and correctly formatted paragraphs (lists, tables, etc …)

Create a coherent inner mesh

The more content you have, the more important it is to create an internal mesh to establish your site’s architecture.

The goal is to link your content to other pages and articles on your site that bring real added value to your readers. So think about your site globally and envision how one page can complement another.

In addition to structural links (menus, navigational trails, footer…), the links that offer more strength are contextual links placed within a text.

The more in-depth the links are, the better the internal mesh. Therefore, you must link your pages to other pages of the same level and/or lower level.

Get external links

With content, website popularity is one of the main criteria for ranking well on Google. In SEO, popularity simply translates into the quantity and mainly the quality of outbound links pointing to your site.

Analyze and optimize continuously

To analyze, optimize and check your website’s status on search engines, the first tool to use is Google Search Console, which is free. It shows you any errors Google finds on your site to resolve them quickly.

Likewise, we advise that you connect your website to Google Analytics to analyze all of your traffic, such as number of sessions, traffic by channel, new users and recurring users, or total number of conversions.
